Rio Grande Dermatology does not delegate any of our procedures to nurses or assistants. It is not unusual for a patient to come to our facility desiring a cosmetic treatment, and during the course of the consultation, we discover a small, subtle skin cancer that the patient had not noticed. As dermatologists, we are able to diagnose the skin cancer that could have been overlooked had the patient sought these services from a non-dermatologist provider. We are then able to treat the skin cancer before it becomes a larger problem, and of course, we are happy to provide the cosmetic service for which the patient originally sought our care.
