What is Latisse eyelash treatment? What is prescription eyelash extension?
The long-awaited Latisse “eyelash drug” is now available at Rio Grande Dermatology! Latisse produces dramatically longer lashes, with results visible after 4 weeks and full effects clearly noticeable after just 16 weeks. This prescription eyelash treatment (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% makes eyelashes longer, thicker, and darker through simple nightly topical application. You apply it yourself like liquid eyeliner. The FDA has approved the use of Latisse as a treatment for hypotrichosis (inadequate or not enough eyelashes) to grow fuller eyelashes and increase eyelash length.
Unlike mascara or the use of eyelash curlers, Latisse actually grows new longer, stronger, thicker, darker eyelashes. Although you can still use mascara to complement your new, lengthened lashes, the “mascara effect” will now be evident when you first wake up, when you get out of the shower or the swimming pool, or at the end of a long day. No more flaking, no more struggling to remove waterproof mascara – contact lens wearers, we’re talking to you! False eyelashes can be a thing of the past.

Lash Solution is Easy to Apply
Patients apply Latisse solution themselves in the comfort of their own homes. Every night, after washing your face, simply apply Latisse to one of the supplied disposable applicators and draw it across the skin at the base of your upper eyelashes. Blot any excess, throw out the applicator, and repeat for the other eye. That’s it! It’s like applying liquid eyeliner.
Enhanced Eyelash Growth After 4 Weeks; Dramatic Results After 16 Weeks
Effects start at 4 weeks with dramatic results apparent after 16 weeks. If you continue to apply the solution each night and follow all directions, your eyelashes will show real measurable growth. As the treatment progresses, you'll begin to see changes in length, thickness and darkness gradually. After week 16, the full effects will be visible to you – and others! Results continue with continued use.
Eyelash Solution Has Minimal Side Effects
The most common side effects after using Latisse solution – an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness – were reported in only approximately 4% of patients. Some users then found that these irritations went away once they became accustomed to the product or began applying it properly.
Latisse solution may cause other less common side effects, typically occuring either on the skin close to the application location or in the eyes. These include skin darkening (may be reversible with discontinuation of use), eye irritation, eye dryness, and redness of eyelids. Latisse is manufactured by Allergan, whose Ophthalmic Pharmaceuticals division has a long history as a global leader in the eyecare industry.
Lash Growth Treatment Requires a Doctor’s Prescription
Latisse is available by prescription only. Patients with some pre-existing conditions may require closer supervision to ensure safety. Rio Grande Dermatology’s longstanding familiarity with this and other Allergan products make our doctors a good choice for prescribing and monitoring the use of this treatment.
